Following the phasing out of nuclear power, the German federal government is now banking on eco electricity. Today, 22,000 wind turbines already supply 7 percent of Germany’s demand for power. In a few years their share is supposed to triple. The feature NO THANKS TO WIND ENERGY? (original title: WINDKRAFT – NEIN DANKE?) accompanies wind farm operators and opponents in North Frisia and shows their protracted dispute revolving around new “windmills”.

Screenplay/Directors: Robert Bongen, Michael Cordero, Norbert Lübbers, Iris Ockenfels, Bettina Schön, Hauke Wendler
Commissioning Editors: Clas Oliver Richter and Stephan Wels
Production: NDR

VOICES OF THE PRESS

“In the course of the feature about wind energy opponents and advocates in North Frisia by Carsten Rau and Hauke Wendler it became very clear what kinds of changes have readily been made there and loom elsewhere in this country.”
