Estimates in 2005 claim that a million people live illegally in Germany. They slave away for a few euros an hour, can’t go to the doctor, can’t send their kids to school. Because the risk of being denounced and deported looms everywhere. The documentary UNDER THE RADAR (original title: ABGETAUCHT) offers looks into a shadowy world whose existence most Germans are not aware of.

VOICES OF THE PRESS

“Without indulging in maudlin sentimentality, filmmaker Wendler gives these people back a bit of their dignity – by showing that they exist in the first place.”
(DER SPIEGEL)

“A biased and angry film – and that makes it so well worth seeing.”
(Marc Felix Serrao, Tagesspiegel)
